ISO Standards for AI in Climate Action

ISO Standards for AI in Climate Action
A workspace with charts, graphs, eco-friendly icons, a "Save Energy" flyer, a pencil, and a light bulb on a green stand, emphasizing sustainability and environmental awareness.
What it is:
A research initiative to develop international standards for the ethical, efficient use of AI in climate action, with a focus on Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
What we are doing:
BCI is partnering with StandICT.EU to draft a Technical Report proposing an ISO/IEC standard for deploying AI in climate mitigation and adaptation contexts.
How we’re doing it:
In partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the UN Pacific Insurance & Climate Adaptation Programme, BCI’s Resilience Council assessed smart contract applications for fast, transparent payouts following extreme weather.

AI needs to be part of the climate solution — but only if it’s done transparently and responsibly.

Let’s Work Together

BCI is actively expanding its project portfolio with like-minded partners around the world.

If you are interested in deploying climate technologies at scale or piloting a new approach, we’d be glad to hear from you.
